Monday, May, 31 was a good day for flying. After a sendoff prayer from a small group of close friends, we left Melbourne at 8:45 AM and headed north. The ride was smooth nearly all of the way, except for a few bumps here and there just to remind us we were not still sitting at home in our favorite chair.
As we approached Maryland, however, there was a wide band of rain stretching across our flight path. It lasted nearly until the New York city area but cleared up just in time for our landing. We're lucky that way!
As we passed to the west of Kitty Hawk, NC, we remarked that here is where it all began exactly 100 years ago. To make our "Around the World" flight in the centennial year of aviation makes it even more special.
